In this article I will talk about a very important topic – gratitude! Why do I consider it important?

Most of people are running and running every day in order to reach a certain destination. Some are running towards their graduation, some are seeking for a better job, some want to buy another house or find another partner.

Whoever that has gone through such phases in life, is able to understand what I mean to say. Running after something with blinded eyes can now be considered a normal thing because we human beings are creative, always want to change and innovate, invent, have a better life and seek happiness. Otherwise, the human society wouldn’t have come to this point where technology is developing at a fast pace and making our lives easier. We have already surpassed our wildest dreams about how life on planet.

Compare the world to 20 or 30 years ago… the change we have experienced and the innovation born out from scientists to startup entrepreneurs is enormous. As you may have noticed, I am referring only to positive developments and the material goods we have created for everyone.

While reading this article, someone may say: “Yes, we have achieved a lot but we are also experiencing extreme poverty because wealth is not equally distributed and there is a great misbalance in this regard. The more technology develops, the more poverty and unhappiness is in the world and it seems like we are living in a paradox.”

I would totally agree with this opinion but let me remind you of a quote by Nelson Mandela: “I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended.”

Does this quote ring any bell to you? What does it mean for you? Wherever you are at the moment, stop what you are doing and take 2-3 deep breaths… “look back” for some moments and see how far you have gone, how many important things you have done during your life. Make this sensation yours… I call it Balance.

Be proud of what you have already achieved and be grateful for everything you have in your life. Prepare yourself to take the next steps so you can show your potential and be responsible for your tasks.

Dare to take big steps towards success but never forget to enjoy what you have already achieved. When we celebrate our achievements, our brains release pleasure hormones which motivate and encourage us.

Dear readers, we all know what our “last destination” is and yet we unconsciously run towards it without stopping to celebrate our life and take a deep breath. Wouldn’t it be better if we would move forward and enjoy our successes without constantly thinking “what’s the next step?”?

You are the author of your life and your choices! I offered another point of view… Life is beautiful but it becomes better when we know how to enjoy it and give it meaning and purpose!
